The best part of the Gold Rush Days weekend is walking down the streets of Old Sacramento. On this walk, you are treated to many special events that are a feast to the weekend visitors. Canvas tents made of old timely clothes are set up everywhere by the vendors who have a huge collection of historic artifacts. These artifacts include toys, clothes and other goods. These arrangements give an insight into the life in Sac Town during the Gold Rush Days.
On a stroll through the streets of Old Sacramento, you will witness many groups re-enacting historic events. These groups either move through the place or perform street plays, adding fun and reality to the weekend events. Transport from the historic days is The Pony Express and it takes you to the Ethnic Village. The Ethnic Village is the place where you are guided through the actual Gold Rush Days. Here you can learn about the various types of people who lived during the Gold Rush era at this place and also how they lived. The streets covered with dust will add to the experience by taking you over 150 years back in time.
You are offered a horse drawn carriage ride to tour the golden town of Old Sacramento during the Gold Rush Days. You can also take gold panning lessons or relax to the old music at the stage. You may even bump into musicians across the streets.
Old Sacramento is open to everyone during the Gold Rush Days, held every year during the weekend of Labor Day. You can visit Old Sac Town from Friday through Monday. All the events happening on the Labor Day weekend are outdoor events and you can look forward for a bright and sunny weekend with your entire family.
To reach Old Sacramento, it is ideal to take l-5 towards Sacramento and alight at J Street exit going towards downtown. A right on the J, left on the 5th and again left on L Street will take you to the Old Sacramento district. The Embassy Suite on the edge of Old Sac Town is the perfect accommodation for tourists.
The Sacramento Gold Rush Days events are a perfect option for the entire family to come together to have a memorable weekend.
